Can a Presentation become a Discussion? If someone question your key message during the moment you are presenting, and apparently you don't know the answer (well, it shouldn't happen, because it's "your" message - you didn't "prepared" it), then just "be" the answer. Sometimes, when you can't answer a question, you have to Be the answer. How? Acknowledge the question - "Hey! It's a nice question. It's so nice that, I don't know about it. Sad. What if instead of me wondering upon this question, what if we present our perspectives? What you think about this question?" See, a Presentation isn't just an act of speaking publicly but an act of carrying responsibility of your Audience. Make their every second count and lived. Be a Voice.

Assuming the interruption is due to a question raised by the audience. Acknowledging the interruption, to show you are aware. It's good to analyse the question and see if it is relevant to the content or not, if relevant it can be responded accordingly and if not, then politely mentioning it will be addressed in due time or at the QnA session or something. It is important to keep a pleasant charisma while presenting or addressing any question raised. If possible, a way to bring a positive smile at audience face would keep the crowd engaged and then regaining the momentum to the topic in hand, this could also involve a brief/summary of what was presented so far.

Smile. The effect of a smile helps you to keep your composure. If you have a notepad, scribble where you stopped on it. Apologise to your audience and glide back to the topic before the interruption. You can also ask your audience with elicitation to show you are in control and ensure that they are following the conversation.

A well-prepared presentation will never loose track when interrupted unexpectedly. Humor, a story or sharing instance which pulls back to the topic under discussion, and other presentational skills are much required. The most pivot variable would be 'confidence' in my opinion coupled with higher intellect to cater anything that comes up.

Whether it’s delivering a quick recap to regain the flow or creatively pivoting with live drawing for tech failures, having versatile backup plans ensures the show goes on, no matter the challenge.

This happens more often than one would expect. It helps tremendously to acknowledge interruptions and quickly assess if it should be addressed briefly or if it can tie in with a part of your presentation. You can even make a quick joke about how it wouldn’t be a well planned presentation without some unplanned mishaps. Try to stay calm and smile (if appropriate). Lastly, try your best to mark where you left off. Someone taking notes will appreciate the rest of whatever point you were making.

Pause and acknowledge: It is always stranger to not address a bird flying into a window or an extremely loud sneeze. Directly addressing these interruptions reassures the audience that you’re in control. Use humour or humanity: You want to immediately defuse any tension, making you more relatable and helping you reconnect with your audience. Recenter the audience: Summarise your last key point or ask a quick, engaging question to smoothly refocus attention. This gives you a reset moment while maintaining flow. Use a reset phrase: Develop a go to line that helps you reset the room and your focus. A confident reset phrase signals control to the audience and to yourself.
