It’s your presentation, remember that. My approach has always been to politely redirect the conversation to the subject at hand. Don’t overthink it. “I believe that’s a valuable question, but it’s outside the scope of this conversation. We can pick that up at another time. Now about the matter of ABCD…” It’s your show, run it to suit the right objectives.

You can also use your agenda or, depending on the type of the presentation, your ground rules if you had them at the beginning, to remind the group about the focus of the presentation.

For me; I try to take any details from the new topic that the listeners discussed and try to merge it in a storytelling way to get back to the original topic, it may be awkward if you did not do it smoothly, however; its the perfect way for me.
