Let me start by clarifying the definition of CAD. Any Design with the Aid/Help of Computer (Computer Aided Design) is CAD, it is not limited to any particular software. Lets talk about accuracy - Different stages in the Design process require different level of accuracy. If the client want more creativity, beautification, presentation (rather than accuracy) at the Prelimiary/Schematic Design stage, that Client is 100%, initial few sketches/themes/concepts have to be more interesting and attractive than compliant with the codes with accuracy. Though on the contrary, in the era of BIM, the accuracy of Information has to be precise from the initial stage, so the later stages of Design development doesn't throw big challenge.

There needs to be a separation between Customer facing documents and internal documents. Internal documents will always be 100% accurate as we need to produce product from them. If the correct documentation system is in place, the customer facing documents will be created from the same CAD files that were utilized to create the internal documents, therefore, the customer facing documents will also be 100% accurate. Adding rendered views, ISO views, color, etc can simply be an additional caveat added to CAD files that are already accurate. My team will always give them both.
