I have a controversial point of view with this respect! Not all BAs need to have data analytics skills. Those who need such skills are BAs who are directly working in data analytics initiatives with data analysis teams. Data analytics is considered a specialization for BAs and is not a core generic required skill.

Understand the difference between correlation vs causation. Often, it can be easy to mix these relationships up, especially when the problem is more technical. I have found it helpful to sit down and draw the relationships. Sometimes, problems we think are much more complex are more straightforward, and vice versa. Staying curious and questioning our assumptions can go a long way in improving our analysis.

Pratique!

I continuously improve my data analytics skills by following a structured formula: Learn + Apply + Reflect + Evolve (LARE). Learn: I regularly update myself by exploring new tools, techniques, and trends through online courses, webinars, and industry publications. Apply: I apply learned concepts to real-world projects, ensuring I stay hands-on with tools like Python, SQL, or Tableau. Reflect: I analyze the outcomes of my analyses, identifying gaps and areas for enhancement. Evolve: I use feedback and results to evolve my approach, refining processes to optimize insights. By iterating through this formula, I ensure consistent growth in my analytical abilities and stay ahead in business analysis.
