What are the skills and competencies that audio visual professionals need to succeed in the future?

Once one has the basics of audio and video signal flow, networking is hands down the most important skill set moving forward. This must extend beyond basic knowledge of AV networking requirements and include an understanding of overall network design, cyber-security, impact and imitations to other network segments, etc. Often IT professionals are not overly happy or receptive to certain AV requirements such as multicast protocols; however, this can be easily navigated if you have a thorough understanding and can speak the same technical language to quell their concerns. Things like why it is needed, why it doesn't have to be a problem and ways to protect other network segments and address all of their concerns.

Audiovisual professionals need technical skills like audio engineering, video production, streaming technology, VR/AR, interactive media, projection mapping, DSP, networking, automation, cybersecurity, CMS, UX design, 3D modeling, hardware integration. Soft skills include communication, problem-solving, creativity, and adaptability. Continuous learning and staying updated on emerging technologies are vital. Also as AV is going more and more to IT / IP one must know Dante (Audio over IP) AVB (though majority use Dante and then NDI (Video (broadcast quality) over IP)

The more experience you are in AV - especially in my region the more sharp you are in problem solving, but sometimes, you need to only follow the basics, problem solving is about knowing the systems and their design, so make sure when you work on projects or come to solve an issue that you have the design of the system, or if it is your system, make sure you have a design made and kept safe both with the client, the end user but also for you, and now days i highly recommend to save designs on the cloud, flash discs crash, laptops get stolen. so for solving problems designs are your #1 things to have
