For me the most important thing to do when this kind of concern is raised is checking the validity of claims. You don't start anything before you know that something is not up to standard. It's pretty bad etiquette to double-check people’s work. You don’t stand over a plumber when he works on pipes in your home, do you? It would be prudent, though, to have a procedure for ensuring quality standards, though you should warn your outsourcing teams of them. In my practice the things that work best are: 1) regular video meetings with team presenting the work done over a period of time; 2) keeping development and QA teams completely separate; 3) having two separate QA teams (in case you feel especially worried about quality).

I think the key point here is to protect the project's integrity and team morale. So, it’s important to both acknowledge the team’s concerns from the beginning and check the complaints carefully. The key here is not to do anything without being 100% sure of what is substandard and the possible reasons behind the quality issues. To prevent these situations, though, I think the key is in the planning. So, ensure alignment on KPIs and quality benchmarks from the beginning and invest in collaborative tools for real-time communication to avoid any misunderstanding about expectations.

In addition to those mentioned, consider these strategies: 1. Incorporate "pair programming" remotely. This practice, where team members from both your internal and outsourced teams collaborate on code together, can help bridge knowledge gaps and catch issues. 2. Implement a "culture of accountability". Beyond formal processes, instill a mindset where both parties are equally invested in success. When both the outsourced team and your internal team feel jointly responsible, they are more likely to resolve quality issues quickly. 3. Leverage customer feedback. If applicable, use real user feedback on the deliverables to highlight areas for improvement.

It is important to turn this criticism into constructive criticism, to identify exactly what is wrong, and to make a plan to fix these problems. And, of course, implement it.
