1. Reflect on why you became a business coach and the positive impact you’ve had on clients, reminding yourself of your value and expertise. 2. Embrace opportunities to expand your skills and knowledge through courses, peer discussions, or mentorship, boosting your confidence and competence. 3. Acknowledge every achievement, no matter how minor, to reinforce your progress and counterbalance feelings of self-doubt with evidence of success.

Even if you are a confident coach, there might be situations and clients in which your confidence is struggling. Build a network of supportive colleges to debrief a difficult situation you have found yourself in. Also, discuss the challenging topics with mentors or more experienced coaches, if you are in doubt, hoe to handle a problem. You are never alone. When sharing your struggles you will most likely get support and learn that others have been there too.

Struggling with self-doubt in your business coaching journey is like second-guessing your GPS—you know the destination, but the detours make you question the route. Start by reminding yourself of the wins, no matter how small—your past successes are proof you’re on the right path. Lean into continuous learning; even seasoned coaches evolve, and self-improvement beats self-doubt every time. Surround yourself with a network of peers or mentors who can offer perspective and encouragement. And don’t forget: the very act of coaching means you’re helping others navigate their own challenges, which is no small feat. Confidence is built one step at a time, and you’re already walking the walk.

Self-doubt in business coaching journey can feel overwhelming, but it's absolutely normal. Here's the thing: self-doubt is just part of the journey. It's like this invisible force nudging you, testing you. Remember, you've got something special to offer this world. Your clients need your voice, your guidance to get where they want to go faster. It's time to embrace what's awesome about you. People aren’t looking for perfection. They're looking for authenticity, and that you've got! So, I encourage you to dig deep, push past that doubt, and let your light shine brighter than ever. Your clients are waiting for you—the one and only you—to lead them.

Here are seven steps I've found helpful when struggling with self-doubt: 1. Write regularly to explore your doubts, identify triggers, and uncover patterns. Writing is therapeutic, revealing, and at the core of critical thinking and problem solving. 2. List achievements and what clients value about you. 3. Walk or exercise to reset your thinking. 4. Read, watch, or listen to content by those who've faced similar challenges. 5 Discuss challenges with trusted colleagues and mentors for fresh insights. 6. Reach out to family and friends who will truly listen and offer support. Releasing thoughts and feelings can open space for new energy and ideas. 7. Celebrate small wins to build momentum and rebuild confidence.

Self-doubt is something I’ve faced often, especially during pivotal moments in my career. What helped me was recognizing that doubt doesn’t mean failure—it’s a sign I’m stepping out of my comfort zone. A strategy I use is journaling my small wins, no matter how minor they seem, to remind myself of progress. Also, surrounding myself with supportive peers or mentors has been invaluable—they provide fresh perspectives and reassurance. Lastly, I break overwhelming goals into bite-sized actions, which makes everything feel more achievable.

Self-doubt creeps up on me when I overthink results. What’s helped? Focusing on my process over immediate wins. → Celebrate small client shifts—they stack into big wins later. → Invest in case studies of your methods—it’s proof that silences critics (and yourself). → Lean into continuous learning. A new perspective can often reaffirm what you’re already doing right. For me, it's less about being the perfect coach and more about staying relentlessly curious.

In my Business Foundation Coaching practice, I have a way to "tag" celebrations from my to-do list. As I add items to my tasks, I can add the tag "celebrate" when they are complete. This helps me to see the progress I'm making in my business. It's important to celebrate the small steps forward to always know you are still moving forward when self-doubt creeps in. We know it will. I also have a mentor who I meet with once a week that helps keep me on track and motivated. Remembering I'm not alone on this journey as a Business Foundation Coach.

Let me share Priya's story, a business coach from Bangalore. Early in her journey, she questioned whether her traditional background could blend with modern coaching. Her breakthrough came after a challenging session with a tech startup founder. Instead of seeing her roots as a limitation, she created "Wisdom Wednesdays," combining ancient Indian leadership principles with contemporary strategies. Today, her unique approach has helped over 50 entrepreneurs. As she tells her mentees: "Our doubts are like chai - bitter at first, but when we add the milk of experience and sugar of self-belief, they transform into something that fuels our growth." Your heritage isn't your hurdle - it's your differentiator.
