Personalized learning is all about collaboration between the student and teacher. Start Small to Scale Big. It requires careful planning. Select strategically the right technology, and assess learner needs. Refine your approach based on feedback and always offer quality including blended learning and it techniques, and implement microlearning.

Bridging personalized learning and scalable technology in higher education can be challenging, but it starts with choosing flexible, student-centered tools that adapt to individual needs while supporting a larger cohort. Utilize learning management systems (LMS) with features like adaptive learning paths, automated feedback, and analytics to personalize the experience without requiring constant manual input. Incorporate tools like AI-driven assessments, which provide tailored resources and insights for students based on their progress. Encourage faculty to leverage scalable yet interactive options like discussion boards, peer collaboration activities.

To actually answer the question, for me the answer is, no. Is this a trick question? To actually be a real question, it should be phrased, How to overcome the struggle of building....?! Scalable technology has a focus on maintaining performance while demand increases, the simple way seems obvious. Use small learning modules and activities, with meta tags, that are able to be interconnected or used separately, with a test that can be taken to prove competence. This would allow the different modules to be individually focused on or tested out of because it was previously acquired. It then allows ability to reuse the same modules in other related courses, repeated for mastery, or otherwise interconnected.

Add personalized learning in your 1:1 meetings with students and/or feedback on assignments. During exam review, go over missed concepts and find out what they know and don't know. If the made dumb mistakes teach them how to correct them. If they are not studying enough, challenge them to add a new study method. If they are struggling with anxiety listen to current coping strategies and offer insights on 1 or two more. Many students in high-intensity science programs need to refine study practices. Listen to what they are doing, coach them on one or two areas for improvement.
