One team member may dominate negotiations, but to regain control and influence outcomes in human resource management, it is crucial to clarify roles within the team, ensuring each member understands their strengths and responsibilities. Additionally, establishing open communication fosters collaboration and prevents misunderstandings that can undermine the negotiation process. Finally, employing a facilitator who can guide discussions and mediate conflicts will help maintain focus and drive towards a favorable resolution.

To regain control and influence decision in a negotiation, one needs to: 1. Restudy the terms of the negotiation and try to find areas that need readjustment(s). And ask yourself relevant questions. 2. Engage (constructively with insightful discussions) team member(s) and members of the other party so as to get more insight and at the same time build bound. 3. From number 2 above, see where insights gathered fits in with the questions from number 1above. 4. Present your findings in the form of contributions(when afforded the opportunity). Do this with extra care so as to avoid undermining, contraction, and/or conflict of interest within your team.

It's not possible to control negotiation. Negotiation is the effort to make agreements where each party has the right to say NO. If one person dominates the conversation, it effectively takes away the right of other members to say NO. In this case, safety is lost, and strong agreements are not possible. Negotiate respect and safety in the conversation. Put the main agenda on the shelf till this is resolved. Reliable agreements do not exist in the realm of disrespect.
