If the total effort for the emergency is estimated much higher, it can even lead to the conclusion to abort the running sprint.

I might use techniques like a quick pros and cons list or a simple voting system to help the team evaluate options efficiently. I ensure that all team members have a voice in this process and that we're considering the impact on our sprint goal and overall project timeline.

Documentation of decisions, justifications and its approval from stakeholders is most important. It promotes transparency by ensuring that decision-making processes are visible and understandable to all stakeholders. Also, it provides the legitimacy and authority to decisions, as they have been endorsed by relevant stakeholders who are committed to the success of the project.

I also ensure that any external help is integrated smoothly into our Scrum processes, perhaps by inviting them to our daily stand-ups or sprint review
