Very often recruiters have very little time when they do portfolio review and it's very important that the content of the portfolio it's Taylor made to fit the customers need. The best and fittest content should be first in the portfolio order. Don't hesitate to separate different areas of your expertise in 3d, for example motion design and VFX work

I've always believed that the key to crafting an exceptional portfolio is intimately knowing your audience, and my professional experiences have helped me sharpen this understanding. From my point of view, the portfolio would be the one I am proud to present myself via projects (both commercial and personal) by showing the process of each of every single project in order to let people to see how I executed a project. Then the question for them would be "is it my process clear enough for them?" and "do they feel it would be easy for them to keep communicating throughout their projects?". For me, these are the most 2 important points that people want to define before working with a stranger, aka freelancer. Then, I decided to only feature my favorite projects. Projects that make me proud to talk about. Projects that showing who I am. Projects that illustrate the best of my core values and working principles.

My professional journey as a 3D graphics artist has always been marked by an insatiable curiosity and a drive to push the boundaries of what's possible in the world of digital design. The moment I embarked on my career, I knew that staying at the forefront of technological advancements was non-negotiable. The field of 3D graphics is a dynamic and ever-evolving realm, and to truly stand out, I needed to embrace innovation at every turn. As I continue to explore the vast landscape of 3D graphics, I remain committed to pushing the envelope, embracing new technologies, and redefining what's possible. It's not just about creating art; it's about creating experiences, emotions, and memories.

Behind the scenes and breakdown are ALWAYS appreciated, it show the process you followed and your organization. It's one of the most interesting insight, try to include wireframe and breakdown of effects when you can

I share the same idea of showcasing my process. For me, it's a start of building trust between strangers rather than just showing videos or images. But I don't want to communicate with people by using complicated technical terms in even 2D or 3D. I try to find the most simple way to talk about my process. At the end of the day, people want to know if working with me is the best choice based on their situation (budget, timeline, communication). Technical terms is not for everyone.

One of the pillars of my portfolio has been the inclusion of comprehensive process showcases. I firmly believe that these behind-the-scenes glimpses not only communicate my artistic vision but also underscore my technical prowess. It's about offering a transparent narrative of how I bring ideas to life in the digital realm.

I definitely want my portfolio website to have quite a good quantity of projects. We can't just showcase 3-4 projects only, especially in Vietnam. The one and only criteria for me to choose a project to showcase is how happy I feel with it. If a project did not make me feel happy, I normally change that project to a special section of mine which names "Rework for personal taste". Then, I feature it but with a note in between original work for clients and rework for personal taste.

This is part of the fun for me. There are so many new trends that I can't wait to try out. If not on a client project, I'll make something myself. And with each new style I try out, I can feel that influencing my own style in organic, subconscious ways. And while it's important to keep up with trends now, I think it's just as important to look back at trends past. It's surprising how trends that feel modern today are really just a new take on trends of the past. Take in Salvador Dali, Rembrandt, or Edward Hopper and see how that informs what you do today.

In the ever-evolving realm of 3D graphics, I've learned that the key to success is not just staying current but actively shaping the future. Keeping my portfolio dynamic and up-to-date has been a cornerstone of my journey, allowing me to showcase my growth, adapt to new trends, and connect with a thriving community of fellow artists.

Sure thing to update the porfolio regularly. But I don't feel like I will throw away old ones. I treasure them for now and forever. They are the best way to illustrate my growth and improvement to people. No doubt I will keep both old and new together.
