Actually I disagree with this statement. For an organization that is already successful, vision, values and purpose etc are already there. The organization has defined it throughout its journey from the beginning to where it is today. For most organizations, the challenges are rediscovering those core values and then communicating them to every level within the organization. For example, a leading rental power company would have customer service at its core. So the learning curriculum within the organization should be designed around how to improve the quality, reliability and availability of service.

Care should be exercised in copying what others do or expect. While it is necessary to keep an eye on the market demand and the competitor's strategy, one must be mindful of the risks associated with a prevailing strategy. For example in the last decade, most power generation distributor companies did not feel the need to keep inventory. The reasons were shorter lead times and the stable cost of power generation equipment. Many companies decided to use that freed-up capital to invest in large projects. But since COVID-19, inventory has become more important than ever for customers around the world.
