One thing I've found that makes or breaks my productivity while working abroad is instilling a daily routine. It can be exciting to visit a new place and be eager to go out and explore. However, working abroad is not an extended vacation. Work still comes first and having a set routine creates expectations for yourself on when to have time for work and when to have time for play. In addition to work and play, I believe incorporate self care habits into your daily routine also creates a healthy balance. You remain motivated, refreshed, and capable of putting your best foot forward while working in a different environment.

In my experience, I always look for a location that has multiple remote options to work in. When deciding on accommodation, I look at reviews for reliable wifi and a designated work space. In addition, I look on maps to see if there are any co working spaces nearby in case my accommodation's wifi begins to be spotty. While other cafes and restaurants may have wifi options, I think it's very important to be cognizant of the culture in that country if remote work in public, non working spaces is accepted. Joining working abroad groups helps learn from others of the amenities and comfort of co working spaces in different countries.
