Achievable goals for a leader are usually different from the goals of a team member. Once this is understood, mark things up the gradient with an inherent understanding of which team members can contribute and till what extent. The load on them should not be so much that they give a solution anyhow, rather it should be progressive leading to a higher goal. Here encouraging the team plays a vital role.

Before you even know what you're plugging into your goal acronyms, you MUST understand the depth and scope of the entire project - in other words, if construction will be taking place (new build or renovation) have a detailed conversation with your GC and/or subs. And MAINTAIN that connection throughout the entirety of the project. There will be adjustments that need to be made due to material availability, import holdups, industry strikes, etc. BE PREPARED. Source an approx time line for all aspects of the construction and design process (then create your own for opt. relevance). For instance, some projects can accommodate two or more subs overlapping - make use of that time saver. - This is just a taste of what's necessary to be aware of.
