In my experience the key is to focus on jotting down crucial points into milestones and then work backwards to set mini milestones along the journey. This way you can track progress and evaluate what can be added as a catalyst and at the same time identify roadblocks. This Agile methodology can be applied to life and business goals.

One thing I would like to highlight and also which I found useful in my career is to negotiate on the deadlines. In simple going back to the stakeholders and asking them if there is a possibility to consider some other deadline or deprioritize the goal. However if there are multiple reconsiderations across time then ther e is something wrong with the team.

Depending on your employer, sometimes you just have to accept that burnout is inevitable or even expected and have an exit strategy.
