How can Civil Engineering Design professionals resolve conflicts with local communities?

Major concerns of local communities which I have come across during the implementation period of a project are manly social and environmental impacts. For examples, roads the local communities are using usually get affected due to the use of heavy machinery and extensive vehicular traffic of heavy vehicles in the construction phase. This can conveniently be overcome though good construction practices such as dust control and quick fixing of damages to the road. Ultimately, overall improvement of the roads to better levels than previous conditions of the roads can help in resolving the issue permanently. It is vital to include these in the design of the overall project.

Some social conflicts usually arise from the absence or lack of something. Sometimes a conflict can be reduced by facilitating it with several things, such as infrastructure which can be built for their utilization. As a civil design engineer, it is necessary to understand the characteristics of the area or region so that potential conflicts resulting from infrastructure development can be minimized as early as possible.

Mainly locals are worried about the public amenities being damaged and environmental disasters may happens due to construction happening of a project,they seriously takes the impact of high machineries and other items impact on environment as well as the daily living of the people
