In the current powertrain transition (ICE to BEV) there can be a hesitation to commit to automotive engineering. However, many components and features are constant, regardless the powertrain. Safety features need to be there regardless. Suspension, seats, doors, trim, body, etc. all will be necessary on BEVs. And do not discount ICE vehicles too quickly, given the current market leveling of BEVs. ICE may not be limited to gas and diesel.
