To boost your critical thinking as a software designer, start by questioning everything. Why is this feature needed? What's the real problem we're solving? Dive deep into issues and break them down to understand them better. Always be hungry for feedback—it's like free advice that makes your work sharper. After wrapping up a project, take a minute to think about what rocked and what could've been better. Keep learning new stuff, whether it's design trends or tech, and chat with other designers to see things from different angles. Keep it fun and stay curious!

Keep your questions open ended. Don’t lead them to what you think the problem is, rather let your questions expose what isn’t yet understood about the problem. Most questions should start with “what” or “how”, use “why” only if you aren’t worried about seeming a bit accusatory with your question. You can almost always reframe a yes or no question as open ended. “Do you intend to include a sidebar for navigation” becomes “what style of navigation were you thinking”, or “how will the user navigate the site?”.
