Unexpected soil condition should not arise when we are on site,it is expected that before you start a project,carryout a proper geodetic survey, analysis and result. Recommendations are given, which would give an idea of what to expect and decision taken on type of foundation and the method to use. However, faced with an unexpected soil condition, do the following: 1. Reduce water ingress to the area. 2. Divert water runoff from the site location. 3. Erect temporary structures that will prevent surface water from entering the work site area. 4. Remove the soil of the affected area and replace with sharp sand, compact properly to 95% proctor. 5. Use Dewatering pumps to remove underground water. 6. Carryout on site soil density test.
