While AI has some valuable suggestions, none of them really hit the best mark. The best thing to do is to divert the discussion to what the mission of the production is and not what the personal agendas are. Theatre is one of the most collaborative art forms of all. In order to collaborate effectively, everyone needs to always ask, how does this action/idea/opinion further the ability of the production to speak as a whole with the audience in one voice, saying what the production sets out to say.

Channeling emotions constructively makes sense to me. I will add to that how important it is to support a team building culture. Throw a bbq, host a billiards tournament, bring the team together to intentionally help them to get to know each other. The goal is for them to realize the myriad of things they have in common. That foundation goes along way in supporting camaraderie in the work place. And when conflict arises, reflective listening with a compassionate eye that leans into empathy is the way to go.

Channelling discussions proactively is the best way to keep the drama at bay. Maintain an environment where cast and crew feel safe enough to bring their grievances forward and are open to work on the best solutions that help in bringing the production to its best form.

This should be done at the very start of the production, preferably during the first read-through, making sure every department lead has a clear understanding of everyone's roles so they can keep their own departments organised and respectful.

The only times things like these occur is when the lead actors believe that they are bigger than the production itself. A the start of the project, the Director should clearly state his vision for the production, he should define clearly what role will each of the cast member play. An actor is ultimately a subject to the Director, he should obey what the director says. Lead actors are the ones the whole cast and crew look up to, when they start behaving in a haphazard manner, the whole team suffers. Everyone should have defined roles and responsibilities to carry out in order to avoid ego clashes.

I find handing out wrapped brownies or hard candy can help defuse a situation. Sometimes people are just tired and hungry. A sweet treat can turn your frown around.

Es super importante siempre mantener la actitud profesional, abierto a recibir comentarios y separar lo personal de lo laboral. Muchas veces podemos enfrentarnos a conflictos entre colegas, discrepancias y discusiones que está bien tenerlas, y no hay que tomárselo como algo personal, sino que siempre pensar en el objetivo sobre el proyecto. Comunicación y diálogo constructivo sobre problemas existentes puede aliviar inmediatamente tensiones internas.

Los mejores líderes que he tenido, han sido personas que no intentan estar por encima tuyo, sino que son tus mejores guías. Ven al equipo humano como el recurso primordial. Son quienes arman equipos desde la cooperación, no quien manda ni da órdenes, sino quien entrega confianza para trabajar, para avanzar, quien transmite motivación para alcanzar los objetivos. Invitan constantemente al diálogo, al compañerismo, colaboración y escucha para la resolución de problemas en conjunto. De esta forma las personas se sientan cómodas y no en un ambiente de competencia donde creen que hay que estar por sobre el resto.
