When working with clients, it’s crucial to track all requests and changes in writing. While phone calls are useful for initial contact, all other communication should be conducted via email to maintain a clear record for future reference. Clients may unintentionally change their minds, leading to lost time and resources. To prevent this, save all requests and decisions, enabling you to professionally address any discrepancies and highlight their impact on the project. The easiest way I have found to do this is to save a PDF of all email communication. This written record also ensures all client requirements are met, fostering accountability and clear communication throughout the process.
