In my experience, balancing innovation and growth while developing an online banking app for legal entities required intentional planning. As we expanded features to support multi-user access and advanced reporting, we faced the challenge of keeping the team creative. We introduced "innovation sprints," where team members focused solely on experimenting with solutions, like AI-driven transaction categorization. Regular brainstorming sessions and a no-blame approach to testing new ideas ensured creativity flourished, even as we scaled the product.

To keep creativity thriving during product expansion, cultivate a team culture that values both innovation and growth. Start by setting dedicated time for brainstorming and experimenting, allowing team members to explore fresh ideas outside daily tasks. Encourage cross-functional collaboration to spark diverse perspectives and new solutions. Balance structured processes with creative autonomy, giving teams the freedom to test ideas within a scalable framework. Celebrate and share small wins to reinforce the value of innovation at every stage. Above all, make continuous learning a priority, ensuring that as the product grows, your team’s creativity grows with it.

Uncomfortable truth: Most teams kill creativity trying to force it. After building 4 innovative products & leading 100+ brainstorming sessions, here's what actually works 👇 1️⃣ The CREATE Framework I live by: C - Celebrate small wins R - Reward crazy ideas E - Embrace failures A - Allocate think time T - Test rapidly E - Eliminate fear 2️⃣ Innovation killers nobody talks about: - Over-scheduling (70% capacity is ideal) - Perfectionism - "But we've always done it this way" 3️⃣ My non-negotiables: - 20% time for exploration - No-judgment Thursdays - Weekly innovation demos - Monthly hack days 🔥Innovation isn't an activity It's an atmosphere Growth without innovation = Death by competition Innovation without growth = Death by starvation

You'll need to foster an environment that encourages growth and innovation. Carve time out during the week that the team can spend time brainstorming, experimenting and taking calculated risks in development and design. Offer support where needed and encourage the team to present their results/innovations after some time has passed. You can then take those innovations and test against user groups to gain feedback. Once received, the team can make updates to their prototypes and validate their own theories. Offer your own feedback and insights from your perspective. Remain encouraging always.
